Downpipe is usually the first element of the exhaust system occurring just behind the turbocharger in the case of turbocharged cars and directly behind the exhaust manifold in the case of cars with a naturally aspirated engine.
Downpipe is most often made of stainless steel, heat-resistant stainless steel, rarely ordinary steel and sometimes it is made of titanium. Often, the diameter of the pipe from which the downpipe is built is larger and sometimes even several times the diameter of the pipe in the standard exhaust system. When deciding on the maximum diameter of the pipe and a full flight, one should remember about other limitations of the serial exhaust system, which in order to take full advantage of the advantages that the downpipe gives us should also be modified.
