Catalyst inserts are a key element of any catalytic converter. It is in them that a chemical reaction takes place which reduces the harmful effects of petrol or diesel combustion on the environment. The cartridge is placed in a metal cylindrical catalyst housing.
The catalyst cartridge is either made of metal or ceramic. In both cases it contains rare precious metals (such as platinum or palladium) which are responsible for accelerating chemical reactions. The interior of the catalytic converter cartridge resembles a honeycomb - the exhaust gas flows through tiny channels, undergoing chemical reactions which partially neutralize and purify it.
